Happy Easter!  Yes, we are still in the season of Easter, celebrating new life in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We hope that you and your families continue to remain safe and well.

According to our calendar, our classes for this catechetical year at the parish are supposed to end next week.  Saturday classes were actually supposed to end this past weekend.  The situation with the coronavirus has, unfortunately, prevented us from gathering for classes again at the parish for this catechetical year.  So we will be finishing this year with our at-home lessons, assignments, and activities that began in March.

As we had previously emailed, your child needed to review the chapters specified in the outline for your child’s class for the weeks beginning on March 16th up until the end of the year.  Your child also needed to complete the Chapter Tests and Your Turn Pages as a way of reviewing and ensuring understanding of the material.

These Chapter Tests and Your Turn Pages will need to be submitted via email.  The directions for submitting the assignments were sent via email to the parents on May 5th.  If you did not receive the email, please email the Religious Education Office.

Please be sure to follow the steps outlined in the email to ensure that we properly receive your child’s completed assignments.  Please also remind your child to review their work before sending it to us, as we will be randomly checking some of the questions to ensure that they have learned the important points.

All completed Chapter Tests need to be submitted by Friday, May 22nd, 2020
We remind you that all “Chapter Tests” need to be completed and submitted in order for the curriculum of this catechetical year to be considered complete.

**Please note that any assignments sent to our regular email address will NOT be accepted.  They must be sent following the instructions in the email.**

In addition, as we close out this catechetical year, we would like each student to write a short reflection answering the following questions:
  • How have you and your family grown in your faith during these past couple of months?
  • Aside from going over the lessons in your textbooks, what have you and your family done to practice your faith at home and to strengthen your relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another?  Give specific examples, and share how you felt and what you experienced.
  • As we approach the summer, what do you plan on doing in the coming months to continue nurturing your faith?
The reflection should be at least one (1) paragraph long (5-7 sentences).  You are more than welcome to help your child complete the reflection, and we encourage you to do so as their primary catechist.  Each student needs to submit their reflection online using the link sent via email.  If you did not receive the email, please email the Religious Education Office.

Each student’s reflection needs to be completed and submitted by Tuesday, May 26th, 2020The reflection will be included as part of the assignments to be completed for this catechetical year.

This last part of the catechetical year has definitely been unconventional, and we thank you for the assistance, support, and cooperation you have demonstrated as you helped your child with their Religious Education lessons and truly embraced your role as the primary catechist in your home.

We will be in contact with you in these next weeks as we receive any new information and inform you regarding how we will proceed for the upcoming 2020-2021 catechetical year.  We hope and pray that all of you continue to remain safe and filled with the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God bless you.
