For the month of January, we are assigning the third set of concepts for your child to review and learn.  Your child will need to learn the steps in the Rite of Reconciliation, which is the sacrament that your child will begin learning about this week in class  Your child will be doing their First Confession (Reconciliation) before receiving their First Communion.  They will be expected to know what to say and do when they celebrate Reconciliation for the first time with one of our parish priests.  Therefore, it is of utmost importance that they know the steps in celebrating Reconciliation.  Your child also needs to review the Act of Contrition, as they will say this prayer during Reconciliation.

Please find below the link to the handout that contains the material that your child needs to review and learn.

In a few weeks, we will be evaluating to ensure that each of our students has learned the Rite of Reconciliation and the Act of Contrition.  We ask for your assistance by going over the Rite and the prayer together with your child.  We also strongly recommend practicing the steps in celebrating Reconciliation with your child at home.

Also, as mentioned previously, we will also be doing a follow-up evaluation on the Basic Prayers (the Sign of the Cross, the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be) to ensure that they have learned them as part of the preparation for First Communion.  Please make sure that your child is continuing to say these prayers daily.

Thank you, and God bless you.
