As you know, St. Kevin Catholic Church has been recording and posting the Sunday and Daily Masses on the parish's YouTube channel for all of our families to watch and participate in the celebration of the Eucharist from their homes.
  • St. Kevin's YouTube Channelwww.youtube.com/stkevin
  • We invite you to subscribe so that you are notified whenever a new Mass or liturgucal event is posted.
This Sunday, May 17th, would have been our closing Religious Education Mass for this catechetical year.  While we are not able to physically gather together at the church, we will be gathering in spirit.  This Sunday's Mass will be celebrated especially for the students, families, and catechists of our Religious Education Program.

On Sunday morning (Sunday, May 17th), you will receive an email with the direct link to watch the Mass on the parish's YouTube channel.  We ask you to please join together with us and all the families of our Religious Education Program on this day as we give thanks to our Lord for a blessed and faith-filled 2019-2020 catechetical year as we pray for all of our students and families.  We will also be recognizing our catechists for their dedication and service to our program and parish.

Let us all, children, families, and catechists, come together to pray, celebrate, and give thanks to God, united as one in Christ.  Our Music Ministry choir will also be singing (from a distance) and leading us in giving praise to God.

We look forward to having all of you and your families join and participate virtually at our Religious Education Mass this Sunday!

Thank you, and God bless you.

HAPPY EASTER!

The following is this year's Easter message from our parish priests and deacons:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Peace and goodness to all!

We have spent forty days growing spiritually and in solidarity with our Lord Jesus on the road to “His Hour” where the merciful Father would glorify him that we, too, might be glorified.  Now we continue to be glorified because His Passion, Death, and Resurrection are made real in every Eucharistic sacrifice.  Easter is a celebration of new life in Christ, and in the Easter Vigil, we are renewed with the water that recalls our Baptism and united with the new members of our family of faith.  This is the time of joy, the time of the fulfillment of the promise of the Holy Spirit, the time in which we walk with great hope as witnesses of the Risen One.

Jesus Christ is Risen!
Happy Easter!

FIRST COMMUNION AT-HOME LESSONS AND ACTIVITIES

posted Mar 30, 2020, 10:22 PM by St. Kevin Religious Education   [ updated Mar 30, 2020, 10:28 PM ]

As classes have been suspended due to the evolving situation with the coronavirus, the Archdiocese Office of Catechesis has asked that we send via email the assignments and activities that your children are to complete at home.

An email was sent out to all parents in the Religious Education Program with information on the assignments and activities that students need to complete while classes at the parish are suspended.

Specifically, for the First Communion classes, there are two video lessons on the Mass that students need to watch, along with two assessments and an evaluation that students need to complete online.

If you did NOT receive an email from the program with your child's Religious Education at-home assignments, please email the Religious Education Office with your child's name, class day, and catechist to reled@stkevinrep.org.

We thank you for your support and cooperation during this time, and we continue praying for the safety and well-being of all our families.

ST. KEVIN MASSES ONLINE

posted Mar 23, 2020, 9:49 PM by St. Kevin Religious Education   [ updated Mar 23, 2020, 9:50 PM ]

Dear Parents:

We hope and pray that all of you are doing well, amidst the continuing situation with the coronavirus.

This past Wednesday, the Archdiocese of Miami issued a statement that all Masses and liturgical events have been suspended until further notice.  You can read the complete statement by
clicking here.

In light of this, St. Kevin will be recording Sunday Mass in English and Spanish for everyone in the parish to watch and participate.  The Masses will be uploaded online and available for viewing beginning at 6:00 pm every Saturday.  To the extent possible, we also plan to record the daily Mass in English and Spanish.

You can watch the Masses from the YouTube channel of St. Kevin Catholic Church by scanning the QR code above.

Or you can also click the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTL1FinAJRr4xBiEw3HF6qQ/videos

All are encouraged to participate by watching the Mass at home and making a Spiritual Communion.

We hope that this will allow us to continue our worship to the Lord and our participation, though remotely, in the celebration of the Eucharist as we remain united in prayer.

In the near future, we will be sending out information with regards to continuing the religious education lessons and curriculum through online learning and at-home assignments for the coming weeks while we are unable to hold our classes here at the parish.

Thank you for your support, and may God bless you and your families.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES CANCELLED - Week of March 16

posted Mar 14, 2020, 10:23 AM by St. Kevin Religious Education   [ updated Mar 14, 2020, 10:25 AM ]

Under the direction of the Archdiocese of Miami, Religious Education Classes have been
CANCELLED the week of March 16, 2020.

There will also be NO CLASSES the week of March 23, 2020 for the previously scheduled Spring Break.

An email will be sent out as to when classes will resume.

Please also note that Archbishop Thomas Wenski has granted a dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, as a result of the evolving situation with the coronavirus.

As taken from the press release from the Archdiocese of Miami:

We hold in prayer all those infected with the virus, their families and loved ones. We pray for the repose of the souls of those who have died. As a people of faith, we trust in the power of prayer and in the providence of our loving God; as a people of hope, we know that God will never abandon us in our need; and as a people of charity, we, despite our own fears and anxieties, stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters infected or affected by this pandemic.

Let nothing disturb you,
let nothing frighten you,
he who has God
nothing lacks:
God alone suffices.

Nada te turbe,
nada te espante,
quien a Dios tiene
nada le falta:
Solo Dios basta.
(St. Teresa of Avila)

RELIGIOUS ED. MASS - May 17 (First Communion Students Needed)

posted Mar 7, 2020, 7:59 PM by St. Kevin Religious Education   [ updated Mar 7, 2020, 7:59 PM ]

Our final Religious Education Mass of the year will be on Sunday, May 17th, 2020 at 11:15 am.  The Mass will be especially dedicated to our First Communion students.  We are looking forward to seeing all of them and their families at this special Mass as we come together as a community of faith to pray for them and to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ present in the Eucharist (as well as their second Communion!).

As mentioned at the Parents’ Meeting a couple of weeks ago, we need students from the First Communion classes to participate in the various roles of the Mass:
  • Lector   (MUST READ WELL – will be assigned a reading part during the Mass)
  • Offertory Bearer   (will bring up one of the gifts during the offertory)
  • Greeter   (will greet parishioners at the entrance doors before and after Mass)
We still need students for each of these roles!  Should your child want to participate, please complete the form you received in the parent packet, and return it to us as soon as possible, but no later than March 14th, 2020.  You can also download the form by clicking here.  As the available roles are limited, they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  You may also scan the form and send it to us via email.

We thank you for your support, and we look forward to this special celebration!

FIRST COMMUNION - Things to Learn, Part IV

For the month of March, we are assigning the next set of concepts that your child will need to learn and understand in preparation for their First Communion.  They are the major parts of the Mass and some Eucharistic vocabulary words, as we have begun to review the Mass in class.  The handout will be distributed to the students at the end of class this week.
Sometime in April, we will be evaluating to ensure that your child understands these important concepts in relation to the Mass and the sacrament of the Eucharist.  We are asking for your assistance by going over and reviewing these concepts at home with your child.

Thank you, and God bless you.
