FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT

SYMBOL: LOVE

Each week has a theme that guides us in our preparation and reflection in this holy season of Advent. The theme for the fourth week of Advent is LOVE. The final purple candle in the Advent wreath is lit. Christmas is just around the corner, and we reflect on the love of God for all of us. We recall the famous Bible passage of John 3:16: how God showed his love by sending us His Son Jesus through the Incarnation. We also reflect on the ultimate action of love shown by Christ in giving his life for us on the cross. We thank God and our Lord Jesus Christ for their love for all of us and to help us show that same love towards everyone.

The season of Advent marks the beginning of the new Liturgical Year in the Church (on November 29). The season lasts for 4 weeks, and it is a time in which we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, at Christmas. The Advent Wreath is a symbol of the season and marks the time of the Advent Season. There are four candles: three purple, and one pink. The color of the Advent season is purple, a symbol of preparation and awaiting for the coming of Christ. The candle for the third week is pink as a symbol of our joy and anticipation that the birth of Christ is ever near.
